This is a one-of-a-kind mental health experience combining group therapy and fishing in the serene beauty of Manitoba, Canada. Designed for early intervention and preventative care targeting corrections officers and first responders, this program offers education, meaningful discussions and therapeutic support in a unique outdoor setting. Program Structure

  • Format: Group therapy sessions combined with fishing on a pontoon boat

  • Group Size: 5–6 participants

  • Session Length: One-time, four-hour groups

Program Components

Three semi-structured group therapy sessions focusing on:​​

Target Audience

This program is specifically designed for:

  • Corrections Officers and other first responders

  • Focused on promoting mental health before issues become critical

What to Bring

  • Fishing gear- assuming you want to fish
    (a rod, some jigs, and a few lures should do)

  • Valid Manitoba Fishing Licence

  • Dress in layers with a hat and plan for the day’s weather

  • Life jackets will be provided

Important Information

  • Cost: $400 per participant

  • Cancellation Policy: 48-hour notice required. Late cancellations may incur a $100 fee.

  • Safety Protocols:

    • All participants must complete a waiver before the session

    • No alcohol permitted on the boat

    • Lifejackets must be worn at all times

Disclaimer: Dr. Ediger is a skilled psychologist—not a professional fishing guide. While catching fish is a bonus, the primary focus will always be on mental health and group therapy.

Payment and Insurance

Dr. Ediger is a Registered Psychologist in the Province of Manitoba. Services are eligible for third-party reimbursement through most insurance providers. A physician’s referral is not required, but your benefits may have specific requirements. Please confirm with your provider.
